EDMONTON: Lots of Things Looking Up Locally as Others Crash Down Worldwide

Amongst all the grim headlines that are spread by various media, Edmonton's growth remains strong. After a mild downtick in 2007, more people are again moving to Alberta' capital than are leaving. According to industry stats, 2,172 familes moved to Edmonton from other provinces or from U.S., while just 1,968 moved out in the first nine month of 2008. That represents a 10.4% increase compared to 2007.

This has fueled the downturn of the housing market since there are fewer buyers that can qualify for a mortgage.
